Cottages in the hills are one of the few things that just by 'looking at' can help you feel more calm and relaxed. Up in the mountains, a place full of peace, fresh air rich in oxygen, refreshing from every feel. Listening to the stories narrated by the clouds above, sometimes helps you rediscover the 'you' that you've always been but is hidden beneath the layers of dust that has settled on by our stressful, routine and now 'pandemic hit' lives!
Nestled in the serene, lush green forests of Dehradun Valley, ‘Pathaal’ is just the place so many of us could just dream of settling down in! Or at the very least, taking a safe and refreshing first post lockdown vacation in. Under 6 hours drive from Delhi, Pathaal is a one of a kind, architecturally crafted home, created with mud, stone and most of all with heart and soul - aimed at conserving the authentic Himalayan way of living.
'Pathaal' is a local name for the shale rock that is used to cover the roof of the house. This rock is special. It can be split into thin layers where each layer reveals its new self. And that's probably what the property does too - reveals a beautiful, unseen side of the Garhwal that we usually don't come across, when planning our typical drive to holiday.
It has comfortable rooms, delicious food and breathtaking views to offer - in a unique style of Pahari Dharohar (Himalayan heritage). And most of all, it offers you the chance to 'rewind', reconnect with yourself and set the pace to take on life again. As they say, life should have more mountains and less stress. And isn't that just what we need especially now!
