Under 5 hours from Delhi, lies Dholpur in Rajasthan - a relatively lesser known getaway compared to other popular tourist attractions of the state. Yet, it offers lots to see - whether its the ancient Shergarh fort, Chambal river Safari, Machkund temple or Damoh waterfall. A symphony in deep Redstone, this historic city was once called Dhawalpuri after its ruler Dhawal Deo. The name of the town was distorted and, with the passage of time, got its present name Dholpur. Located on the eastern edge of Rajasthan at the border with UP and Madhya Pradesh, the town is surrounded by Chambal ravines on the south and east, and offers you the best of facilities for sightseeing and excursions.
And hidden here, lies another jewel of calm, away from the hustle bustle of cities lies an exclusive property water locked from three sides - Narsingh Bagh.
With easy access from Delhi it makes for an excellent weekend retreat. On offer are 12 cottages fashioned with Dholpur stone, which served as the hunting lodges (shikargah) for the royal family of Dholpur.

This is also an excellent place for birdwatching (especially the lush greens around the Ramsagar lake), and going on wildlife jeep as well as boat safaris. You may even spot leopards and sloth bears, while a boat safari may offer glimpses of two different species of freshwater crocodiles. Daily farming routines, spend time interacting with people learning about their culture and way of life, take cycling tour to nearby areas around the lake. Or - You can just be in your own space, where there is actually no one between you and your thoughts.
